The Powhatan Education Foundation is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that raises funds to enhance the learning experience in Powhatan County Public Schools. We fund Classroom Innovation Grants, encouraging teachers to collaborate and innovate above and beyond the curriculum. We reward excellence by awarding scholarships to graduating seniors and by providing monetary awards to Teachers of the Year.  PEF forms community partnerships with individuals and organizations to generate overall support of the entire learning community in Powhatan County. Our most recent partnership is with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library where we serve as the local non-profit affiliate along with representatives from other community organizations in an early literacy program that mails a book to participating children once a month, from birth to age five.
