Learning on the go! Instead of having her 10th grade English students take notes on Aristotle’s seven elements of good storytelling from a PowerPoint presentation, Mrs. Ray had them visit different stations in the hallway to get them up and moving. “Students have a tendency to learn better when they are combining multiple parts of the brain. So that includes physical movement, in addition to writing, in addition to reading, which we will be doing in a minute,” Mrs. Ray said. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

We encourage our families to make sure students don't miss school days for anything but absolutely necessary absences. Missed instruction time can add up quickly and put students behind. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Attendance matters. When a student misses 2 days of school a month: They will miss 20 days a year; they will miss 30 hours of math; they will miss 60 hours of reading and writing; and they will miss over 1 year of school by graduation.
